Hardware is produced by Olimex, a company with more than 25 years of experience in tiny computers built for the the "maker community", and one of the first to produce Open Source Hardware certified computers.
Olimex can produce their OLinuXino boards virtually "forever" - meaning that only relatively little interest is needed to keep production alive.
Software is purely Free, maintained as part of the operating system Debian. Debian is probably the largest and most coherent Free software distribution with more than 25 years of experience. It is the origin of the definition for "Free software" which was later copied and renamed as "Open Source".
Solidbox aims to be trustworthy - both hardware, software, and maintenance
The computer inside the box is certified Open Source Hardware - which helps security analysts to verify all functionality the box can do.
